An NFT Collection Combating Hunger with Sustainability

Happy Women’s Day! Today and everyday, we celebrate women, who truly are the architects of society (shout out to Harriet Beecher Stowe)! We are launching our collection today in honor of all the women before us who have staked their claim in the halls of [her]story…because we intend to do the same.

My sister and I grew up in a food desert. For those who may not know what that is, you can erase images of dry sand and tumbleweeds; it’s not that. It’s more like an area (usually in a city) that has virtually no fresh or healthy food options and are, instead, littered with places like McDonald’s, Popeye’s, and corner stores. The thing is, we didn’t even know that we were missing anything. I wouldn’t even have been able to identify a mango or an avocado until I went away to college. Seriously. I’m so grateful we had food to eat at all (as there are countless who do not); I just know we can do better. No child should have to grow up in such a way that they think diabetes and heart disease are just rites of passage into adulthood (like I honestly did).

Enter the Plant-Faced Club! In my adult years, I have developed a massive appreciation for the beauty of this planet. Everything we need to survive and thrive literally grows from the ground! Isn’t that so awesome?! From the oxygen we breathe to the food we eat to the clothes we wear — it all comes from plants! Even if you eat meat, your food ate plants before ending up on your plate. One of our primary initiatives is to grow and fund others to grow community gardens in urban areas, so food deserts can become a relic of the past along with typewriters and floppy discs.

Anyway, we’re just here to promote the health and sustainability of people and the planet. Proceeds from the sale of the Plant-Faced Club NFT art will go toward: funding community gardens(more on the benefits of that later), planting trees (we’ll plant 10,000 trees once the collection sells out and two trees for every sale thereafter), and educating the masses about the benefits and beauty of being Plant-Faced.
